Whoever said "don't judge a book by its cover" or "don't stare the gift horse in the mouth" . They are totally wrong. Although the bread comes as an extra in most restaurants, I realized you can fairly guess what to expect from a restaurant before seeing the food by tasting the bread.
In New York, I have come to realize that "the bread in a restaurant says a lot about its chef and the food you're about to order. Little wonder my favourite restaurant is French, they serve fantastic bread with butter or anything interesting you can think of.
Although in Naija, location is everything. A born and bread Nigerian, I still can't deal with eating bread with oil - olive oil, extra virgin oil, Johnson baby oil- which ever one is just not right with bread. Somebody needed to preach it.

Ara oko ijebu abi na ara oko abeokuta? which one is it. when in Rome, you live like the romans. Whether bread and virgin olive oil could fly or not, it works well for the Italians and you should just accept it as that. You know folks will look at you and ask why the hell do you eat your rice with stew on it or better yet ask you why you have to cook your veggies before eating it. And if you are bold enough, take gari to work and make eba, stink up the entire office with your egusi soup - dont you think folk will wonder how that goes together? hmmm ......
I know we lost you a long time ago. But seriously, why should I eat bread with Johnson baby oil??
